Award winning Actor/ Director/ Producer Shiek Mahmud-Bey is committed to helping actors become their best and it's paying off with 90% of Shiek Studios students working. Starring in lead and supporting roles in movies and web series. Co-starring and guest starring in tv shows such as FBI, the Game, Law and Order, Blue Bloods, Chicago Med, and BMF to list a few.
Shiek Mahmud-Bey lives by the motto, “I will find a way, or make one” as he continues his stellar acting career, which has included starring roles alongside Hollywood greats like Andy Garcia, Richard Dreyfuss, and the late Philip Seymore Hoffman. Shiek has created a hit factory of sorts. His production companies, 25th Frame Films, and Char’Actors, the latter comprises creatives, actors, writers, directors and producers who create and produce original projects.
Both a thespian and storyteller in front and behind the cameras, his acting workshops at Shiek Studios have been home for many actors seeking to learn and acquire his top-flight skills. Shiek is also an instructor in the master's program at NYFA (New York Film Academy) where he teaches directing, directing actors, and producing. His work also extends to BAFTA ( British Academy of Film and Television Arts) which has earned him acclaim for teaching filmmaking & acting with young adults.
Shiek Mahmud-Bey's experience in front and behind the camera gives his students real world industry training. His no nonsense and direct style of teaching melds together the different methods of acting such as Stella Adler, Mesiner, Chekhov, and Strasberg. Shiek's experience allows him to understand the actors' process, creating an intimate line of communication which helps to give the actors clarity. He uses this to also help the actor develop self confidence and trust within themselves and their creative choices.
