This class is for actors on all levels. By usage of improvs, and a variety of exercises founded by the principals of the different methods of acting, Lee Strasberg, Stanford Meisner, Stella Adler, Uta Hagen, and Michael Chekhov, actors will learn how to be more specific in the work.
By focusing on the Who? What? When? Where? Why? and How? of the character, actors are aligning themselves with making stronger choices in the Character Development phase. Understanding with clarity the dialogue and scenes written in the script, gives levels and truth to the work. Allowing actors to efficiently, and creatively tell the character's story.

Shiek Mahmud-Bey is an award winning Actor/Director/Producer/ Teacher. With over 30 years in the business, Shiek has starred opposite some of the industry's A list actors. Such as Samuel L Jackson, Marcia Gay Harden, Joaquin Phoenix, Ed Harris, Scott Glen, Morgan Freeman, Robert Deniro, Ving Rhames to name a few. Shiek also teaches Directing, and Producing in the masters program at New York Film Academy and Filmmaking for youths at BAFTA. Shiek is founder and CEO of 25th Frame Films & the CharActors production companie which are consistently creating projects.

Scene Study: The in-depth analysis and performance of scenes from plays, films, and television. We dissect the text, characters, relationships, objectives to fully understand and embody the material.

Camera Technique: Being aware of the camera, understanding frame and composition, Eye-line, and focus, adjusting performance for different shots, maintaining continuity, reacting to marks on camera, blocking for camera. Camera technique is a crucial aspect of filmmaking and can greatly impact the visual storytelling and emotional impact of the characters story.

Script Analysis:
Character Analysis, relationship dynamics, scene breakdown, subtext and underlying emotions, context and world building, dramatic structure, and directors vision.
Actors will develop a deep understanding of their character and the story enabling them to make informed choices and deliver visceral authentic performances.

Audtioning Technique:
How to prepare and participate in auditions. Preparation- Understanding the script/sides provided, how to research, and create a well- rounded character, connecting with the material, centering your mind and relaxing your body before auditioning.
The business of acting:
Refers to the professional aspects and strategies that actors need to navigate in order to build a successful career. Marketing and Branding, Networking, Representation, Auctions and Casting.
